Sinaloa Martin.....

Sinaloa Martin.....

....a close relative of the Purple Martin and our reason for visiting this town. It is a very range-restricted Mexican endemic and, at the moment, no breeding sites are known. The only way to see it is as it returns from drinking/feeding over lakes and reservoirs and heads back to the mountains outside the town in the evening. It was my 8500th species as well...an appropriately difficult one !
