Only discovered in 1997, this species has a very restricted range. It is best seen at the Tapichalaca Reserve ( owned and run by the Jocotoco Foundation) and here the birds have become habituated to taking worms placed at a feeding station. Without this habit, it would be a very difficult bird to see.
