Apparently naturally occurring in N. and W. Taiwan, this species is hybridising with the endemic Styan's Bulbul of the S. and E. of the country in their area of overlap. The situation is complicated by ceremonial releases of large numbers of the Chinese species, so the outlook for the endemic bird is bleak.
